Description
The world-wide stage phenomenon sings and dances its way onto the silver screen in this smash film adaptation that had audiences not only singing along, but lining-up to see it again and again. Two-time Academy® Award-winner, Meryl Streep (Best Actress 1982, Sophie's Choice and Best Supporting Actress 1979, Kramer vs. Kramer) drops the serious fare and really kicks up her heels (and does a split in mid-air), having the time of her life and proving there is really nothing this actress cannot do. She stars as Donna Sheridan, the single mother of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), with whom she runs a ramshackle island inn on a picturesque Greek island. As the film opens, they are in the midst of planning Sophie's wedding, but with an independent streak that matches her mother's, 20-year-old Sophie, who has never met her real father, decides to invite her mother's three former paramours, one of whom is her dad, to walk her down the aisle. The candidates include, Harry (Colin Firth), Sam (Brosnan), and Bill (Stellan Skarsgard) who all arrive at the same time. They are soon followed by Donna's two best friends, Tanya (Christine Baranaki) and Rosie (Julia Walters) who are there to support Donna through the vows, and to just help her get through the wedding weekend. Major hijinks and confusion ensues, all amidst the utterly romance scenery, and that completely irresistible score, woven together from ABBA hits of the past. The stars are clearly having a ball and so will you. "How can you resist it?!" Special Features include audio commentary, featurettes, trailers and much, much more.
