Description
Joseph L. Mankiewicz (All About Eve) directed this charming, romantic tale laced with a touch of the supernatural. Beauteous Gene Tierney (Laura) is a young widow seeking independence from her domineering in-laws. Determined to live her own life, she moves into an isolated cottage on a windswept seaside, along with her young daughter (played by an 8-year-old Natalie Wood)only to discover an unexpected housemate: the ghost of the cottages former owner, a blustering, salty-tongued sea captain (Rex Harrison at his most dashing). Its a battle of wits and wills between the ghost and Mrs. Muir, who unexpectedly find themselves drawn to each other. Beautifully photographed, with the two stars perfect in their roles.
